Report fuels Obamacare debate with estimates of job loss
Tue Feb 4, 2014
There will be more jobs when people don't have to keep working as much to pay for the previous too expensive medical care. Some people will retire earlier. We also need to get Congress to limit the amount of money the pharmaceuticals get.
Evolution debate plays out on creationism's home turf
Mon Feb 3, 2014
When did the concept of zero originate? If it was after the supposed 6000 year ago beginning of the earth than perhaps saying each day of creation was 24 hours is stretching it. Math was just not an exact science back then. I mean even 50 years ago people were saying that the bibli …
Will evolution debate blow up in the Science Guy's face? It's debatable
Thu Jan 30, 2014
I heard a good joke about this. I'm sorry, I don't know where it originated. An orangutan was reading the bible and Darwin's Theory of Evolution. A man saw him and asked him why he was reading those two books. He replied, "I'm trying to figure out if I'm my brother's keeper or my keeper' …
Jimmy Fallon to Jay Leno: 'I hope I make you proud'
Mon Jan 27, 2014
Though I went 35 years without a TV, since about 2000 I started taping Jay Leno to watch while I exercised in the afternoon. (I have to get up very early.) Then the DVR stopped working and I would have had to spend more for a cable box every month. I dropped cable and hooked up my …
What's up with the drop in stock prices?
Fri Jan 24, 2014
In reply to: Pippo Schillaci #1.4 I don't buy stock anymore, but I have to agree with you. It sure seems that the falls are manufactured so that some people start pulling out their money at the height intending to make the market drop sharply. The average person will sell out …

Health care law affects those with insurance through work, too
Tue Jan 21, 2014
Don't the insurance companies have to pay back any overage they took in during a year? Something like that. It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year. For instance, we had chiropractic coverage at work. The carrier earned profits last year so they were …

Companies woo the weed crowd with artful, edgy ads
Sun Jan 19, 2014
In reply to: Jarhead-2884562 #18 I know this is off topic, but I've got to say it. People don't realize that almost every other country gives their kids a test in approximately 7th grade and divides them into college bound schools or trade schools. When our test scores are compared …
Flu season worsens across US
Fri Jan 10, 2014
I get the flu on average about once a year (sometimes 2 times a year, sometimes not at all, even with flu shots). My husband rarely gets the flu and rarely gets a flu shot. But I work at a high school in tight spaces tutoring kids, sharing pencils and door knobs. He works outside i …
